Still Water Under Stars · 2026
The night sky over the river, lamplight and
stars doubled on the moving water.
Made on the last warm evening of September, this frame watches the river turn into a second sky. Every lamp along the far bank lays a trembling road of gold across the water, and the stars do the rest.
Two figures cross the shallows at the lower edge — strangers, unposed, gone before the next exposure. They give the vastness its scale, and the stillness its company.
A single long exposure from a tripod braced on the stone steps, taken twenty minutes after the lamps came on. No compositing: sky and reflection share one continuous moment, printed exactly as the river gave it.
The river keeps a second set of stars for anyone patient enough to look down.
