Amber Field at Dusk · 2025
A wheat field holding the last amber of the day
beneath a rising night sky.
Shot at the hinge of the evening, when the field is still gold but the sky has already committed to night. The wheat becomes a held breath between two darknesses — the coming one above, the rooted one below.
Single seed-heads stand out of focus in the foreground like small suns. They are the reason the frame exists; everything else is their weather.
Three evenings of waiting for a windless dusk, then a low tripod position inside the crop row itself. The horizon sits deliberately high so the amber does most of the talking.
The field keeps the daylight a little longer than the sky allows.
